BHIS
Behavioral Health Intervention Services
The purpose of the BHIS program is to provide skill development services and support to youth and their families dealing with a mental health diagnosis so they can create a supportive environment at home. BHIS offers intensive skill development, counseling and referral services to families who are experiencing challenges with their child’s disruptive behaviors connected to mental health needs. BHIS Providers will also work with the family, including education and support in coping with the child’s mental health symptoms and management of the child’s behaviors. Services address behaviors like aggressiveness, poor communication or poor social skills' that can impact your child's success in school, at home and in their community.
BHIS is a supportive, directive and teaching intervention that is designed to improve the individual’s level of functioning with a primary goal of assisting the individual and his or her family to learn age-appropriate skills to manage their behavior, and regain or retain self-control. In addition, to provide skill development in areas such as conflict resolution, problem solving, social skills, interpersonal relationships, communication, cognitive flexibility, problem solving skills, emotional vocabulary and emotional regulation. Treatment can assist troubled youth and families to address emotions, behaviors and functioning issues in their daily lives, assisting them on their path to independence.
